Blog Five 02/04

In chapter 15, Strayer goes over many concepts relating to religion. Going back to when I did my research paper back on Christianity last semester, it's interesting to read about the growth of it all. Reading about the transformation of Christianity and finding out all the places it had expanded out to like, from England and Spain to west Russia, some places in Egypt, Ethiopia, southern India, and central Asia. Also, learning about the protestant reformation which had ruined the unity of the Roman catholic christianity. it began when Martin Luther opened up the topic of abuse within the catholic church. Learning about the differences between the Catholics and the protestant  was interesting to read up on since it was something I was never really informed of, especially really comparing some of the things side by side. With the changes in Spanish America, it was interesting to read about how by 1700 that's when most people had converted due to being baptized. Overall including the idea of science in many topics like, Science as a Culture Revolution, Science and Enlightenment, Science in the Nineteenth Century and Beyond, and European Science beyond the West. It overall just introduces a new viewpoint of life and how things work.

Module 6 2) What was distinctive about the end of Europe’s African and Asian empires compared to other cases of imperial disintegration? Many empires like, Assyrian, Romans, Arabs, and Mongols had their empires end due to being overtaken, whereas with Europe’s African and Asian empires the end had been associated with the mobilization of masses around a nationalist ideology. Many empires had collapsed in the twentieth century. As well as the Austrian as well as the Ottoman, following the end of World War I. Following, the Russian Empire falling apart even being under the Soviet Union. Then following World War II, the fall of both the German and Japanese empires. Blog Twelve 04/07

Module 4 Read the section on fascism in chapter 20 of our textbook. You do not need to read the entire chapter. Then spend 30 minutes doing self-guided research on the internet about fascism.  Fascism was known as something that was said all across Europe. It was something that was known as being nationalistic, and to purify the nation. The spokesman of it all was all for violence towards enemies. With the renewing force in society, many placed their faith in a leader. Fascists also were against individualism, liberalism, feminism, parliamentary democracy, and communism because they viewed it as something that only weakened the nation. There were small fascist movements in many Western European countries, as well as France, Great Britain and the Netherlands.
