1) In your own words, what was this reading about?
The readings ultimately were about telling the story of these women pretty much from childhood to adulthood and of course the story of them coming together. These stories tell the reader the way they grew up, what they had, what they experienced throughout life and pretty much explains how they ended up the women they came to be.
2) Which woman did you find most interesting and why?
I found Julie's story a lot more interesting. Overall it was a lot more easy to read and get into in my opinion. I just think her story specifically is something that a lot more people could relate to with the whole, not having tons and tons of money, but enough to get by. Then, to have a family owned place robbed, a lot of people have experienced robberies of all sorts. and of course dealing with the stress of almost losing a loved one due to gun violence. It is something that we still struggle with today due to many many people using guns for all sorts of reasons and ultimately using that to try and "resolve" their problems.
3) Which could you relate to most closely and why?
I could relate to Julie's story more just because of the normal family situations that happen. Especially with her stepping up to get a job when her family began to struggle. I relate in the sense that like I got a job to really begin the concept of working and getting money and learning about how the world really works with money. Also because she talks about the problem about how everyone deserves to be able to go to school if they want to since even til this day it is still a problem in this world. If you have money, then great, but if not then maybe the college life isn't for you. Especially growing up in a family that doesn't know much about those things.
4) Compare the educational backgrounds of the two women.
Julie had the means to go to school and everything due to her father having a shop and some land. Francoises was put in school already due to having a family that had money.
5) How would you describe Francoises’s attitude toward her own money and privilege?
The overall impression I get is that she didn't really want to be apart of that. It even says that her family could tell she wasn't into being the way the rest were. She prefered the simple lifestyle of the "lower class" people. Having tons and tons of options like with meals and such, didn't suit her.
6) How would you describe Julie’s attitude toward her disability?
It seems as if she tried to be as positive as she could with it and make it work the best she could. It seems as if the students she was teaching were a really big part of her life and that was something she had to look forward to.

7) What opportunities existed for women at this time?
There weren't many opportunities for women around the time but the two women did what they could to make things work.

8) What lessons do the experiences of these women hold for us today?
To me, I generally just get the points that life is hard and things happen. Specifically for women, it just shows that there was the ability to step up and do things that at one point were really only the roles of men.
